Round Four One Red Division 26-11-05Click here to Return to Pennant Scene

All went not as expected in round Four
The Bedford Bulls don't win when we thought they would!!
Leeming do the job to win 5/3!! A boilover that brings Bedford back to the field.

Cambridge play Victoria Park, bring home the big end of the points.

The Powerhouse turn the switch on, Osborne Park go hard at it with an improved perfomance.

Melville couldn't possibly lose, yes!! NO!! one shot is enough for the Magic to pip those hot, hot Doggies.

Wanneroo Show some steel, this is the win they had to have!! a win they would not have achieved last year. Cockburn looking in need of an overhaul and are on the ropes..

BULL QUOTE Mel Lemos said " it was just terrific to be part of the side, even tho we lost by one shot, I haven't enjoyed my bowls as much as I have since playing with Stu Bainbridge and his team. We are keen and eager, The new players have lifted the spirits of the club compared to other years gone by".

November 26th 2005:

Leeming (5) beat Bedford (3) ..........81/ 80.........

So there you go!! Leeming do what they must do!!. They win at home, and show they are not to be taken lightly. The conditions were very windy, the Bulls won on three rinks but it was Rhett Butler and his boys that held the Bulls at bay.
The Bulls would have been favourites to win this game,and will have to at one time or other, come to terms as to whether Lance Strahan will skipper. This should happen sooner rather than later.

=========================================================

Bruce Edwards {skip}, Bill West , T. Glendenning, A. Pryce--------------19
The Jones Boy { skip}, B. Richardson. Paul Hunter, J. Carlsen-----------20
I have no card. The score tells the story in this game, a very close shave for the Jones Boy and his rink, winning by one shot to remain undefeated.
Bruce Edwards and his rink have come to terms with playing One Red and have performed very well for Leeming so far into the season.
best player for Leeming was the leader Alan Pryce
Best Player for Bedford was again the Skipper The Jones Boy

=========================================================

Rhett Butler (skip), R. Anderson, G. Pemberton, N. Bracken--------28
Barry Gartrell {skip}, Neil Minchin ,John Trewhella, K. Collins---18

The story I have is that generally the Bulls had to many short bowls and didn't fire on the day, while Rhett Butler had a burster. It looks like Rhett continued on from where he left off after the Master Singles. There is no doubt about this fine players ability and is surely a walk up start for a State birth.

Best for Leeming was Skipper Rhett Butler
Best for Bedford Bulls, second week running was leader Kevin Collins.

==========================================================

W. Heldt {skip}, D. Comeri, B. Ford, N. Strahan...................16
P. Harris {skip} L. Strahan M.Illich ,F. Andrich...................18

No cards to look at. The scoreline says it was a tight game, the word is Pieter Harris has continued on with his great form from last week.
Wayne Heldt, Danny Comrie, B. ford and N. Strahan had a better contest in this game and almost got the point after last week poor showing..

Best for Bedford was Mark Illich and Pieter Harris .

===========================================================

A. Provost {skip},G. Gould, P. Ryder. McKenna.-----------------18
S.Bainbridge {skip}, M. Lemos, S. Shaw, M. Trewhella.---------24

Stu Bainbridge and his team of M. Lemos, S. Shaw, M. Trewhella had a good day at the office and generally outplayed the Provost rink. However the score would have been a lot bigger if not for the good play of Anthony Provost to keep the score down to 18/24
Stu Bainbridge now has two wins on the book and the team has settled down and will be very competitive from here on.

All players contributed to the win for the Bulls
Best for Leeming was skipper
Anthony Provost.

Wanneroo (6) DEF Cockburn (2)...........84/ 73.....
This is the win the Roo Boys had to have. They had to say we are here to stay and are going to win this game at the hardest venue there is to win at.
The win is very meritorious considering the different green speed of their green compared to Cockburn's slow track. They are now in top spot on the ladder.
The win was set up by a brilliant display of the Wanneroo Wizard, Clive Adams, G. Adamin, G.Cox , (Paul Rylance who filled in for Phil Potts who was not feeling well).with a whopping 32/11 win over Norm Pascoe and his rink.
New State squad member Stein Davies and his rink had a huge win beating Daniel Brown 30/12. and played a major role in the victory.

Steve Shroy got hold of Ron Bates and his rink who were awesome last week.
The Cockburn rink got a good start with M. Vassulo doing a solid job of leading and Glynn Vaughan weighing in with a very handy game while skipper Steve Shroy played a telling game, to win 22/14, The Roo boys were outgunned in their respective positions while the Roo boys Ted Alden had a very good game.

Russell Hughes (pictured) had a huge game for Cockburn
Russell Hughes and his rink who are undefeated played another undefeated rink, that of Geoff Ellis and took them to the cleaners winning 28/8. Russell Hughes played an absolute blinder in this game.

=============================================================

Melville (6) DEF Yokine (2)...............72/71.....
Melville get across the line in a thriller against a determined Doggy outfit.
The rink of Jeff Hall lost their first game for the season to the leading Yokine rink of Alan Davis 14/20. The Davis led rink recovered from the hammering they received last week and that is a good sign for Yokine.
Jon Sharp and his boys set up the win with a very handy win against John Currie 25/13.
Colin Fleay continued on with last weeks encouraging display to defeat Sid McCann 20/10.
John McGrath (pictured) enjoying it at Yokine as a third
Neil Watson in his first game as skipper for the Doggies got well and truly on top of Cameron Girvan to almost get the Doggies over the line winning 28/13.

==================================================

Doubleview (6.5) beat Osborne Park(1.5)..................77/72...
The Powerhouse win a nail biter against an improved Osborne Park side
The corner stone of the win was provided by the undefeated Robbie Ball 23/18 against Bill Galloway, a small margin but enough to win the aggreagte for the Powerhouse in a tight contest

Ross Dempsey (pictured) Had a brilliant season in pennants last year, enjoying his new role playing three to Pat Buller.

Pat Buller, Ross Dempsey, Jim Bausor, Jim Barry had another win, getting across the line by one shot against Wings Evans 19/18
Kyle McIlroy lost his fourth game this season. going down to John Goddard 17/18 in another game that could go either way.
John Slavich had a draw against the new and youngest rink in One Red of D. Trewella, J. Coleman, J. Tyrer and P. Fair. 18/18

==================================================

Cambridge (6) Victoria Park(2) .....................87/ 77....
As expected a solid win for Cambridge with the rink of John Rainoldi doing the damage winning against Mark Simpson 30/16 to set up the win
Ron Stockden won again with a good win against Steve Withers 24/16.
Rooster Wishart and his rink of Keven Pickering C. McNeil and G. Hiskens continues to be the shining light for Victoria Park with another win, they defeated Trystan Smallacombe who had his usual third Scotty Edmonds absent due to illness. 20/16. Rooster remains undefeated so far this season.
Justin Opie got the other point winning his first game of the season taking out the good rink of Brian Katunarich 25/17.
