Round One---

What a magnificent opening to One Red Pennants. OH BOY!! LETS HAVE SOME MORE!!!!! yes sir this is what will make One Red pennants more interesting than in other years gone by
Leeming do the the impossible and knock over last years premiers. The result is unprecedented in the history of the competition when the second top side in One White comes out in the first round of the new season in One Red and spanks the reigning Premiers. It is not meant to happen that way. Dellar ratings would be broke if betting were legal. Sherro says GREAT STUFF LEEMING. And please please give us more.
The Bedford Bulls trample a Powerhouse that might need to have their generators in for an overhaul.. The Bulls strutted their stuff on a very good green for this time of the year and never took their foot of the accelerator at any stage of the game to take a handy win.
YES I KNOW !! ----Barry Gartrell's rink had a good win!!!

Cambridge too good for a fighting Doggie outfit

Melville show they are to be reckoned with, after a good win against Victoria Park.

The Wanneroo Express showed some class to say G'Day Ossy Park, Goodbye Ossy Park in another upset win in the opening round of Pennant fixtures.

Wouldn't it be great for Bowls if we could have these upsets every week.!!

=====================================================

The tipster had a fair round with his tips.
Bulls YES over the Powerhouse
Cambridge YES over the Doggies
Cockburn NO against Leeming
Victoria Park NO against the Magic
Ossy Park NO against The Wanneroo Express
OK,-- under the circumstances, not a bad result.

November 6th 2005:

Bedford (7) beat The Powerhouse (1) ..........82/ 61.........

We were able to tip this game correctly and what a most important win for the Bulls. There was a feeeling of expectation within the club that they would win this game today. One could feel the exuberance that was evident within the club at practise this morning with all players champing at the bit, saying to lets go, lets bring it on!!!

Speaking with Lance Strahan after the game he said "Sherro!! this is the result we expected" And believe me good people that is NO BULL!!.

=========================================================

A. Jones { skip}, B. Richardson. Paul Hunter, J. Carlsen---------------18
L. Thorn {skip}, J. Slavich ,J. Houlahan W. Langdon-------------------15
A solid win for the Jones Boy and his rink considering who the team was up against. Lindsay Thorne, skipper of the second best performed rink in One Red Last season.
The Jones Boy and his rink started slowly then got into gear after being 6/10 down on the 7th end to hit their straps and charged to the lead to be 17/12 on he 12th end and run out comfortable winners 23/18.
A good start for this team and lets see if they can go with it.

Best Players for Bedford was second Paul Hunter and lead John Carlsen

Best for the Powerhouse-Skipper Lindsay Thorne
=========================================================

Barry Gartrell {skip}, Neil Minchin ,John Trewhella, K. Collins---20
Kyle McIlroy {skip}, B. Urqhart,A. Delaporte,G. Papadopoulas-----16

This rink did all that was asked of them with all Bedford players contributing toward the 16/4 scoreline on the 12th end. Then holding the fort against the Powerhouse boys who put in a determined effort to reel in the deficit to lose 20/16.

pictured on right Barry Gartrell, a big game from Bazza today.

Best player for the Bulls was Skipper Barry Gartrell

==========================================================

P. Harris {skip} L. Strahan M.Illich ,F. Andrich.................32
Pat Buller{skip},Ross Dempsey, J. Bausor, J. Barry.............13

Boy What a thumping. Gee, Pat Buller's rink is better than that. However Pieter Harris would be over the moon with such an impressive start. Pete had a huge game and what a great start to get the season under way.The scorecard shows it was nip and tuck right up until the 10th end where the scores were 6/8 in favour of Pat and his boys. Well, thats when the stampede started, Pieter Harris and his band of merry men went into over drive and won 32/13. A great start for P.H and the team. Pat will look toward next week and tell the world that this is not a true reflection of his sides ability.
The form of Pete and the boys is what they were hoping for and should pose a serious threat to all that have to play them.
Best for Bedford was Pieter Harris.
Best for the Powerhouse was second Jim Bausor
===========================================================

S.Bainbridge {skip},C.Graybrook, S. Shaw, M. Trewhella.---------12
R. Ball {skip}, D. Katunarich, R. Haring, C. Slavich.----------------22

Any game that has Rob Ball as the skip would present a problem. Rob was not the problem, it was D.Kat, he had a gi-normous game and was clearly the man of the match in this rink. The scoreboard shows there was little between the two sides at he 11th end, score 12/10 in favour of Rob Ball but that was the end of the penny section as the Powerhouse boys streaked away to lead 17/10 on the 14th end and continue on to be 22/13 on the 20th end, Game over.

Best Player for the PowerHouse was
The Kat
Best Player for the Bulls was Skipper
Stu Bainbridge

Wanneroo (7) DEF Osborne.Park (1)...........84/ 77.....
All rinks had tight contests with little separating any of them. Ron Bates took care of business over State third John Goddard 21/17. Geoff Ellis bought home the bacon 20/16 against Dan Trewella, Geoff seems to have the wood over the young fellah.
Stein Davies got hold of his team mates from last year Bill Galloway's and his rink by two shots winning 25/23.
Wings Evans, the only winner for Osborne Park snuck across the line against the Wanneroo Wizzard Clive Adams 21/18.
While The Roo boys would be elated with the win, and so they should be, Osborne Park will get better as the season goes along. A loss is a loss but the size of the loss sends a message.
=============================================================

Melville (7) DEF Victoria Park (1)...............80/74.....
Melville upset Vic Park with very good win led by new recruit Jon Sharp fixing up Justin Opie with a 26/17 win. Cameron Girvan (reports on Cameron have been very positive) won his first game as a skipper and had a nice win over Steve Withers 22/15.
Jeff Hall came into the clubhouse with a win over Mark Simpson 25/16.

John Sharp (Pictured) leads the way to victory for the Magic against V.Park

Rooster Wishart (third top skipper in One Red last season) was the only winner giving Col Fleay the old heave ho 26/7
This is the kind of start the Magic would have been looking for and if Jeff Hall can continue this form it could make Melville a contender.
Back to the drawing board for V.P. Maybe the player drain is worse than we thought.
Best for this game was the second,
Charlie O'Neal

==================================================

Cambridge (7) beat Yokine (1)..................82/73...
Trystan Smallacombe had a huge battle on his hands being 6/15 down at one stage of the game against new skip John Currie who made his debut in One Red pennants today getting up to win 18/15.
John Rainoldi won by two shots over a very competitive Ian Cooper 23/21
Brian Katunarich made a welcome return to One Red after a 5 year absence to take out the honours over T. Brougham winning 25/17
A. Davis was the only winner for the Doggies and in his debut for them won by four shots over Ron Stockden 20/16.
Cambridge won as we expeted them to and they should get better as the season progress's.
The Doggies can take some heart out of this game with all rinks having a real crack at it

==================================================

Leeming(6) Cockburn(2).....................80/ 55....
The best result possible for Leeming and the pennant competition. I thought they could get two points and I am sure if that was the result they would have been happy with that. However to really take on Cockburn at Cockburn and dump them in this manner would have been totally unexpected and what can we say other than congratulations Leeming, you have stunned the bowling world.
Rhett Butler showed in the Bedford Bowl and the State triples that he has goods, won his rink 27/11 over the strong side of Daniel Brown.
Bruce Edwards dished it out to Norm Pascoe doing it easily 25/11.
Steve Srhoy made it against Anthony Provost only just, but that is all you have to do to get the point,winning 16/15
Last years top skipper in One Red Russell Hughes got the other point against Wayne Heldt ( the man who made it possible for Leeming;s entry into One Red) winning 17/13.
OK lets hope that Leeming continue on and win a lot more games, the competition needs for that to happen.
Cockburn may be on the slide but it is to early to tell and only down the track can that be confirmed.
