All went not as expected in round Seven
The Cambridge Knights win against Melville and share top position
the PowerHouse defeat their arch rivals and take all the points in a surprise
win, or was it!!
Bedford Bulls destroy the Wanneroo Express and take all the points.
Victoria Park bury the Doggies and we can safely say "so long its been good to
know ya" and wish the Doggies well in One White next season.
Leeming spring another surprise ( is it a surprise?) and put Osborne Park out
of the equation. The big question is!! where has the real Osborne Park side dissappeared
to??
BULL QUOTE " We still have a long way to go, I thought
it
would be a really hard game today, things just clicked for Bedford and to get
8
points
against
a good side like Wanneroo is a bonus. Very happy and keeps us on track for what
we have set ourselves for." JOHN CARLSEN.
ROO QUOTE " This Bedford side is the best team
we have played along with with Cambridge so far this season. We have to play
two other sides to finish the first round, The PowerHouse
and VicPark, but that is the way I see it up to now " RUSS
BATES

What was seen as a very important game for both clubs, Bedford on the rebound
from last week huge loss against Cockburn and the Wanneroo Express trying to
stop
their slide from the dizzy heights. The result tells much as to where Bedford
are, and for Wanneroo, where they are in the scheme of things.
The Jones Boy and his rink are the only undefeated rink in One Red.

The unbeaten rink of The Jones Boy faced a challenge against Stein Davies
and his rink to day (every game is a challenge, when you have an unbeaten
rink, it is even more of a challenge)
The game was 6/5 in favour of the the Jones Boy and his rink after 6 ends.
Stein and his boys then got to work and slipped to a good lead 11/6 on the
10th end. From then on, it was cruise control for the Jones Boy and they
carreared to a commanding lead 17/12 on the 18th end, Stein's rink got
back a little and finally went down 18/16
Stein Davies continues to be a great recruit while his rink are hard at it
for The Roo Boys and are showing that he and the rink are very capable in
this
competition
The Jones Boy and his great team remain unbeaten and are sitting on top of
the heap.
Best player forthe Bulls was Paul
Hunter
Best player for The Roo Boys was the leader D.

A good clash here with two top rinks going head to head, the extremely
well performed Geoff Ellis rink up against the Pieter Harris rink. Well
it turned out to be a bit of a fizzer with The Bedford rink shooting out
to a 17/7 lead on the 11th end, when disaster struck for Wanneroo, Geoff
Ellis was rushed to hospital after having signs of a heart attack or stroke.
This put an immediate dampner on the game. Their was much concern for
Geoff and his condition.
When the game resumed Pieter
and his boys kept their consistency and shot away to record a handy win
Pieter Harris (pictured) having his best ever start
to a season leads the way for the Bulls.
Team effort for Bedford---
Best player for The Roo Boys was the leader S.

A game where the Ron Bates led rink had to stand up and be counted. Stu Bainbridge
also had to make a statement after last weeks effort and rink changes.
The game was a cracker scoreboard wise, Stu 9/5 on the 5th end only to see
Ron Bates and his rink strike back too lead 17/13 after the 16th end and things
were looking rosy for them to win the point. From here it was the Bedford
Bulls who won the ends to fall over the line 19/18.
The Best player for Wanneroo was the third Russ Bates.

Lance Strahan versus Clive Adams is a game most would not want to miss, today
was a time when you might miss the game. The game started out well for Clive
to win the first two ends, from there on it was a cakewalk as Lance and his
crew careered away to lead 18/2 on the 14th end. There was no way that the
Bulls were putting the que in the wrack and stormed to a very good win 29/9
Best for Bedford was third Barry Gartrell
Best for Wanneroo was leader Gary Cox
Cambridge (6) DEF Melville

A big win by Trystan Smallacombe, Scott Edmonds, Nick Lewis and Brian Kiely
set up this important victory by defeating the No 1. rink at Melville, that
of
Jefff
Hall
23/14. Ron Stockton has maintained his momentum with another fine win 18/11
against the up and down rink of olin Fleay
John Sharp and his rink are doing a good job with a narrow win against the
well performed Brian Katunarich, 19/16. Cameron Girvan a rookie skipper continues
to impress with another hard fough win, this time against John Rainoldi 20/18.
=============================================================
Leeming (6) DEF Osborne Park (2)...............87/69...
Leeming wont go away and have wrecked the season for Osborne Park. The Dads
army rink of Bruce Edwards, Bill West, Tom Glendinning and Alan Pryce dished
it up to the youngest rink in the One Red competition belting them 33/13.
Tom Glendinning (pictured) a fine performer for Leeming in yesterday's win
against Daniel Trewella.
Anthony Provost and his rink continue on their merry way chalking up another
win against the star studded Bill Galloway rink 17/11
John Goddard beat the underperforming rink of Wayne heldt 23/18 and Wings Evans
wins his second game for the season against the talent laden rink of Rhett
Butler, 22/20.
==================================================<
Victoria Park
(6) beat Yokine(2)..................107/79...
Victoria Park break the ice and Yokine with a handsome victory. The win helps
VP to retain some hope of avoiding the relegation zone and should provide
some impetus for their clash against Cockburn in the next
round.
The victory
was set up by Mark Simpson, Jeff Mitchell, Tom Findlay and Tom Reid with
a
mamoth scoreline of 46/11 against John Currie.
Justin Opie wins his second game of the season winning a tight game against
Trevor Brougham 25/21, while Alan Davis had too many guns for the No 1. Vic
Park rink of Rooster Wishart, 24/18.
First game skipper for the Doggies, Adrian Feltham, has a very good win against
Steve Withers who had won his two previous games, winning this game 23/18,
perhaps a sign of better things to come for the Doggies.
Speaking with Mark Simpson (pictured) after the
game he said it was a most important win for the club and to "watch
out after Xmas" because they are going to have a real crack at saving
the club from relegation.

Doubleview (8) Cockburn (0)
....................81/
60....
The Powerhouse turn on the power, taking all the points against Cockburn
who would have been favourites for this game today. The win has kept DV on
the right track to make the finals while Cockburn have had an inconsistent
year and face an uphill battle to make the four after todays loss
Rookie skipper John Slavich won his second game for the season by defeating
another rookie skip, Joe Galipo 18/16 in a very tight game.
The win of Kyle McIlroy against his arch rival Russell Hughes, who has had
the wood over him, was the main reason for the Powerhouse victory along with
Robbie Ball's rink who overpowered the well performed rink of Steve Srhoy.
Pat Buller had a nice win against last weeks world beater, Daniel Brown,
down 11/15, there was some work to do, and and work they did to get up and
overpower the Cockburn unit to win
20/15.
Best players in this game were Leader Jim Bausor for DV, while Cockburn leader
Peter Novak had a very good game also.
