"To avoid criticism, do nothing, say nothing, be nothing."
- Elbert Hubbard

A huge day in the scheme of things for the great game of Lawn Bowls.
Wanneroo take the biggest 8 points they are ever likely to get against a valiant PowerHouse. In a must win game for both sides Wanneroo have yet again lifted above and beyond expectations. Every game over the past few months has been a final for them. The challenges have been plenty and have been met head on. A great result for Waneroo and lawn bowls in general.

Bedford overcome the staggers and fall across the line against Melville in a tight encounter. This was a must win game for the Bulls and they withstood the enormous pressure provided to them courtesy of Jeff Hall and his super rink.

Yokine just never know when to give in and still remain in the hunt to avoid relegation. Osborne Park have lost the plot and remain the enigma of the competition. 7/1 win to Yokine who played at Osborne Park is unthinkable. We have to conclude that the Osborne Park 16 have let themselves down badly not only in this game but the season in general. The players are simply not good enough to hold One Red and if they do, there will have to be a huge rethink on selection methods and recruitment.
Cockburn are the masters and help to say goodbye to VP in fitting fashion with an 8 nil win. Cockburn prepare for the second semi-final. Victoria Park prepare for an uncertain future from here on.

Bedford (7 ) beatMelville (1) ..........81/ 71..
A most important win for the Bulls who had to overcome the inept display by the Barry Gartrell led rink who lost by an incredible 25 shots against Jef Hall. The other three rinks of the team did very well to cover for them to enable a win for the Bulls. Big Match tomorrow for the Bulls when they travel out to Cambridge and attempt to be the first side to win in a day game at that venue. They need one point to make a certainty of a place in the final four.

There was so much riding on the game and of course what the Jones Boy and his rink could do to ensure victory for the Bulls overall. The Jones boy and his rink were feeling their way along in a nip and tuck affair against new skipper Kiran Cousens who was holding his own right up till the 14th end, where the score was 9/9. Was there going to be a boilover here? no!!
from here on The Jones boy shot away to a handy lead of 17/9 on the 17th end and looking safe to finally win 18/13

The Jones Boy won 12 ends to 9

J. Sharp (skip), R Barns,  A. Lee, J. Birch ----------------------.12
A surprise result as far as the score line goes in this game because the rink of Jon Sharp is usually more competitive that this scoreline shows. However we have to take into account that Pieter Harris has the best rink in One Red and a win like this wouldn't surprise.
It was a pretty close game @ 9/7 for 11 ends. From here on the after burners were applied by Pieter and his boys as they scooted away to lead 18/7 on the 16th end. They dropped a 5 but overcame that t0 finish 24/12. Jon Sharp's rink won only one end from the 11th end onward.
Pieter Harris won 15 ends to 6

This was a good opportunity for Stu Bainbridge and his rink to flex their muscles playing against new skip Steve Hughes. They shot out of the blocks to lead 5/0 after 3 ends then be 11/7 after 11 ends. They were always in control going on what the scoreboard shows from here on. 21/8 at the end of 17th end. Then a 27/12 win.
This just the tonic for Stu who has done pretty well so far this season as a skipper for the bulls

S.Bainbridge won 13 ends to 8

Barry Gartrell {skip}, N.Minchin. M. Lemos, K. Collins

J. Hall (skip), C. Girvan, R. Kennedy, J. Andrew ------..................34

Well it was another hard day at the office for the newly appointed Skipper Barry Gartrell and they were in bother from the outset. Jeff Hall and his rink skipped out to a handy lead of 10/1 after 5 ends. This was a danger sign as to how the game would go and we saw the Jeff Hall rink lead 19/3 on the 10th end and a sniff of victory for Melville if they could keep it going for the rest of the game. Well they did keep it going and won 34/9 and remarkably that was not enough to get Melville across the line. Warning bells here for Bedford as this rink is definitely on struggle street and anymore results or blowouts like this will end the Bedford Bulls hopes of playing and winning the final.

Jeff Hall won 13 ends to 8.

Yokine (7) DEF Osborne Park (1 )...........89/72...

With plenty at stake in this game it was the Yokine Doggies who came away with the big end of the points. Today they play Leeming and the way it is going they must have a huge chance to beat Leeming who have gone off the boil while Osborne Park play Cockburn and I dont like their chances to get a point in that game so a win for Yokine will save them from relegation.

Cockburn win on three rinks in tight games however the 4th rink, that of Gary Carberry blew Justin Opie rink right out of the contest. Now for the finals and the premiership for Cockburn who would be the favourites in my book.

Cambridge (8) beatLeeming (0)..................81/ 69.
Cambridge are too strong for Leeming who have slowed down over the past few weeks. A very good win for the Knights winning on all rinks and now want victory today against The Bedford Bulls to finish the season on top and have the finals played at Cambridge where they have an advantage over the rest of the competition.
Leeming have done very well to hold their place in One Red for next season and much of the credit must go to Rhett Butler and Anthony Provost.

Wanneroo (8 ) Doubleview (0) ...................72/ 61....
A big day in the history of the Wanneroo Bowling club and a bleak day for the PowerHouse. Wanneroo won the premiership in One White last season and have almost secured a place in the final four after defeating the PowerHouse at Doubleview. They went and got some solid recruits who have stood up to playing in One Red very well. Wanneroo is a club on the rise and no doubt they will look to strengthening the side a little more for next season..Celebrations went on well into the evening and why not.
This was a hard fought game and the scores indicate that the PowerHouse were only a whisker away from winning on every rink.
The PowerHouse will rue the loss to the bottom side Yokine and that will be the difference between being in the final four and out of it.
