Round Two---

All went As expected in round two
The Wanneroo Express do the job down at Leeming yet again and make it five straight wins over Leeming.
Our poll voters were right in selecting The Roo Boys to win at Leeming 35/30.
We had 421 viewers on the voting page-- only 65 voted.!!!!!
We might wonder about Leeming! they have have a huge home ground advantage over all sides that play at this venue. Why? because it is an International Green, it is 10 Feet longer than a standard green.
Do they have the smarts to use it to their advantage---????--time will tell. Their first game at home wasn't a failure, considering they won on three rinks.

The Powerhouse open their account for the season and win against old friends and Cambridge.

Ossy Park too good Melville.
Bedford Bulls do it as we had predicted against a depleted Victoria Park Team.

Cockburn do what Cockburn has to do, win against the Doggies.

November 12th 2005:

Bedford (7) beat Victoria Park (1) ..........81/ 70.........

Went as expected with the Bulls to classy at Victoria Park. Dellar Ratings would have to rethink his market strategy after calling the game odds so much in favour of Victoria Park. Dellar if you ever become a bookie I will be your No 1 customer.
The Bulls had the call for much of the day winning on three rinks
Speaking with Neil Minchin after the game he said
" Sherro we are pretty happy with the win, we don't take anything for granted, we have to fight for every point we get. to come away with the big end of the points at V.P is a good feeling, something we have not experienced for some time at that venue".

Neil Minchin (pictured) Played a big game for the Bulls today against Victoria Park.

=========================================================

The Jones Boy { skip}, B. Richardson. Paul Hunter, J. Carlsen-----------17
S. Withers {skip}, N. Young ,M. Corison, J. Evans-------------------13
Didn't get a clear picture of this game. The scores do indicate it was tight and tough, but info says it was not a high standard game. I have no card for this or any other game and am not able to relate the way the game was played.
I guess from a Bedford point of view all that mattered was getting the point that is played for.

Best Players for Bedford was the Skipper The Jones Boy

Best for the Victoria Park --- leader John Evans
=========================================================

Barry Gartrell {skip}, Neil Minchin ,John Trewhella, K. Collins---16
Rooster Wishart {skip}, K. Pickering ,C. McNeil,G. Hiskens--------23

This game was a hard fought affair with Rooster and his rink getting out to a handy 12/5 lead then the Bedford boys having to try to get back into the game. The biggest problem for Barry Gartrell's rink, was having to contend with in this game was that Charlie McNeil was playing. He was on the jack so often and his first ten ends were sensational, after that, his form dropped to be only very good. That said, the back end and in particular, Neil Minchin, really had to stand up and play above and beyond with a telling game, while Barry Gartrell contributed with some pretty handy stuff.
Going into the last end Rooster and his team lead by One Shot on the scoreboard and managed to pick up a big, big seven shots. The aggregate was won for the Bulls so from that point of view, shot play was the order of the day and Bazza and the boys didn't connect with anything.
Rooster, who finished third on last years top skippers list, continues to shine along with his rink in a Club that is rebuilding for next year and the years after.

Best for Victoria Park was, yes you guessed it!! Charlie McNeil.

Best players for the Bulls was Skipper Neil Minchin and Barry Gartrell

==========================================================

P. Harris {skip} L. Strahan M.Illich ,F. Andrich.................23
M. Simpson {skip},T. Mitchell , J. Findlay, G. Quann..........14

I have no information on this game. All I could gleen was Mark Illich had a great game and Pieter Harris played like Pieter Harris can, so we know what that means, both were extremely good in this game while Thomas Mitchell was the best for Victoria Park.

Best for Bedford was Pieter Harris and Mark Illich.

Best for the Victoria Park was second Thomas Mitchell
===========================================================

S.Bainbridge {skip}, M. Lemos, S. Shaw, M. Trewhella.---------25
J. Opie {skip},T. Reid,P.Long, T. Scott.---------------------------20

This game saw Matty Trewhella at his best in the leading position, Matt set things up and as we all know, when he is on song, there aren't many better than Matt.
Of course some one had to stand up for V.P. Paul Long the V.P. second countered as best he could {considering that Matt was always there} to hold things in check and give his side a chance..
The thirds had an enthralling battle with Tom Reid who was a very good leader last year for V.P. was playing very consistently, while Mel Lemos played some big, big bowls for the Bulls.
Stu Bainbridge held the trump hand because of Mat Trewhellas great leading and played some great shots to keep the momentum going for the Bulls.
Justin Opie did have his chances and almost could have snatched the game for V.P played a top shelf game.

The word is, this was a very, very high standard game.

Best Player for the Bulls was
Matt Trewhella
Best Player for the Victoria Park was Skipper
Justin Opie

Wanneroo (5) DEF Leeming(3)...........83/ 82.....
What a game!! an absolute belter! The twist and turns, plus the drama at the end of the game. Bowls at its best in a pressure game for both teams. Its games like this that make the sport of lawn bowls such a great game to play.
The big story in this game was the rink of Stein Davies (skip) R.Humphryson,M. Hulbert, D.Griffen who shot out to a 20/7 lead over the rink of Wayne Heldt (skip) D. Comrie, G. Strahan G. Ford.
A change came over this game with Wayne Heldt forced to play weighted bowls into the head and converting on many occasions for his rink to hit the front and lead going into the last end 28/23.
With the aggregate tied 82/82 apeice, with all the pressure on his shoulders and the last bowl to be played Stein Davies drew the shot to get the Roo boys over the line in a very exciting game. winning 83/82, while losing the rink 24/28.

Geoff Ellis had a huge game as he led the way for the Roo's knocking over Bruce Edwards 26/11. When Geoff Ellis is at his best he is almost unbeatable.

Geoff Ellis (pictured) plays a blinder, leads the way for the Roo boys

Rhett Butler's rink had a good win against Ron Bates. The leeming front end of Neil Bracken and W. Pemberton won the battle against their opponents with Rad Anderson having a huge game for the Leeming rink compacting the problem for the Roo's to help seal victory for his rink.
Anthony Provost and his rink won against the Wanneroo Wizzard Clive Adams and his rink 20/19 in another very tight game.
=============================================================

Osborne Park (7) DEF Melville (1)...............85/77.....
John Goddard (skip), G. hinkley,C. Guelfi and G. King set up the win with a 28/18 win over the very much in form Jon Sharp and his rink.
The powerful rink of B. Galloway, P. Pendergast, G. Nicol, F. Carbone get hold of new skip Adrian Lee 24/16.
Dan Trewella opened his account winning his first game for the season against new skip and well performed Cameron Girvan.
Jeff Hall has a huge win over Wings Evans 28/13, this is a great start to the new season for the Jeff and his rink.

==================================================

Robbie Ball wins again to defeat former team mates John and Jarrod Rainodi comfortably 23/12.

==================================================

Cockburn (7) Yokine(1) .....................88/ 63....
As expected Cockburn show some form and give the Doggies a good going over at Yokine.
Norm Pascoe (skip), D. Penman, J. Ravlich,J. Beswick hit their straps and set up victory with a crushing win over the well performed rink from last week of John Currie 30/16.
Russell Hughes (skip), S. Cerff, J. Galipo, T. Stocker cruised to a handy win against T. Broughham 21/15.

Joe Galipo (pictured) reliable player for Cockburn

Dan Brown and his team returned to better form to take the point against the strong rink of Ian Cooper 21/18.
Alan Davis won a tight game against Steve Shroy 18/16 and has now won both his games in the new season.
