Where and how did you start
I have played bowls for the past 22 years, my relationship with Bedford Bowling
Club began approximately 4 years prior to that.
Occupation
supply, installation and maintenance of Master Antenna Television (MATV)
systems.
Other clubs
None.
Bowling achievements
1989/90 Bedford Championship Triples.
1989/90 Runner-up Championship Pairs.
1993 Bedford Plate Fours.
1995/96. R/U Bedford Championship Fours.
1997/98 Winner Bedford Championship Triples. (This was
Ken Rowell's last season at Bedford and Mike Browning and I were determined
that we were going to win this one for "Uncle Ken").
Best Moment
There have been so many good times at the club, but I guess the Triples win
in 1997/98 will always have a very special place in my memory.
Worst moment
Back in England, many years ago, I was involved in a "nightmare" soccer
match where we were beaten 21-0.
I was not playing that day but was Chairman of the club and felt just as
bad as the guys who did play.
Best player
From a personal point of view, I will never forget the "bowling lesson" I
got from Robbie Ball early in my career. It was in the club singles championship.
I scored 2 on the first end and felt very good about it all.....until Robbie
took over control. I had many good bowls but did not score again. Robbie
had his bowls on remote-control and played with flair and finesse in his
draw shots and with unfailing accuracy in each of his many drives.
We have had many excellent bowlers at Bedford but Robbie's performance still
sticks in my mind.
Favourite holiday destination
Singapore.
Favourite meal
For many years, I have been part of a four-man racing syndicate at the club.
Many of our nights out have involved Thai food, and this has to be one
of my favourites (although I have been told many times that I will "eat
anything").
Favourite drink
Mmmmmmmm...let me think. A glass of red wine, a pint of draught Guinness,
or any of my excellent home-brews.
Last film seen
I do not go to the cinema very often but my last movie was Harry Potter 3.
Last book read
This was probably "Roots" by Alex Haley . I love the story and
this was my 3rd time reading it.

pairs against Terry Sheridan and Alan Barker in 1998. Alan had been my pairs
partner for years. We split up after the 97 club pairs, and we both made
it into the 1998 pairs final.
It was said of Allan and I as a pairs combination that the lead and second
were pretty weak, but the third and skipper were dynamite.
Winning the pennant and promotion from 1st division blue to first white.
Worst moment

to skipper since.
